Important Food Safety & Medical Disclaimer

Japan Food Allergy & Celiac provides general food-safety information and translation help. It is not medical advice and not an emergency service. Kitchen practices, cross-contact risks, shared fryers, and recipes vary by restaurant. Always confirm ingredients directly with restaurant staff and carry prescribed emergency medications while traveling. In a life-threatening medical emergency in Japan, call 119 immediately.

    What the App Provides

Japan Food Allergy & Celiac provides practical communication cards, dish safety ratings, and translation tools for dining across Japan:

31 Safe Food Cards & Combined Card

Individual and combined cards for celiac disease/gluten, crustaceans, shellfish, eggs, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, buckwheat, fish, sesame, halal, vegan, and custom dietary combinations.

    Native Spoken Audio (1x, 0.75x, 0.5x)

Pre-recorded natural Japanese audio for 13 dining situations with slow 0.75x and 0.5x playback modes so counter chefs and waitstaff understand you clearly.

    Konbini Decoder & Hidden Ingredients

Guides to decipher Japanese packaging labels, meat/seafood/halal flags, mandatory allergens (8 items), recommended allergens (20 items), and hidden sources like dashi fish broth and soy sauce.

    100% Offline Capability

All phrases, cards, guides, dish safety ratings, and audio files reside locally on your device. The app works fully offline; only in-app purchasing and restoring require an internet connection.

What Is Free vs. The Paid Pass

    Free Forever:

One primary Safe Food Card (your first pick selected during onboarding) plus core emergency phrases are free forever, with full Japanese text, kanji, and native audio.

Unlocked with the Pass or Lifetime Access:

Unlocks all 31 dietary and allergy cards, the custom combined card, all 13 dining phrase situations, slow 0.75x and 0.5x audio playback, dish safety ratings, the konbini decoder for meat, seafood, and halal labels, and the complete hidden-ingredient guide. Nothing renews automatically.

    14-Day Trip Pass ($4.99)

Non-renewing subscription for travelers on vacation. Provides full access for 14 days. Never auto-renews or rebills.

    Lifetime All-Access ($9.99)

One-time, non-consumable purchase. Permanently unlocks all current and future cards, phrases, and audio.

    How to Restore Purchases

If you reinstall the app or switch to a new iPhone, you can restore your purchase at any time:

    In-App Restore Instructions:

    Microphone & Audio:

The app plays bundled, pre-recorded audio clips through your device speaker. The app never requests microphone access and never records audio.
