Ramen shops close all the time, and map apps and directories are often slow to notice. These are the shops in our guide that have closed at their address. Each one keeps its page, with the closing date, the evidence and open shops nearby, so you find out before you make the trip.

How we check
We check each shop against Japanese-language sources: the shop's or operator's own announcements, venue and shopping-centre notices, local news, ramen directories and first-hand reports. Every closure here has one of two evidence grades:
- A: Strong evidence: the shop, its operator, a venue or a dated news report.
- B: Reliable evidence: a ramen directory listing or a first-hand report.
Reports we could not confirm, where sources disagree or where we could not be sure which shop is meant, are not marked closed. Those shops are checked again first.
A closure applies to one address. When a chain branch closes, the brand and its other branches are not affected, and when a new shop opens in the same premises it is a different shop, so we do not link the two. We only give a date when a source states one; otherwise the date says what is known, such as "around Nov 2017" or "unknown".
