    Best for

Founded from a street cart in 1947, Asahikawa Ramen Aoba Honten is the historic pioneer of Asahikawa's signature double-soup ramen. Third-generation master Toshihide Murayama simmers pork bone and chicken stock with dried mackerel, kelp, and vegetables. The steaming dark soup is sealed beneath a thick film of hot pork lard to insulate the broth against sub-zero northern winters. Low-moisture wavy noodles soak up the savory soy broth.
